Forget Everything You Thought You Knew About Pickup Trucks

The First Bunk Bed Truck

Pickup trucks have a bed; the 2017 Ridgeline has bunk beds. The first of its kind with a hidden cargo hold box floor beneath the bed of the truck. Available with front- or all-wheel drive, under the hood every Ridgeline is powered by a 3.5-liter, 280-hp V-6. Buttoned to a standard six-speed automatic, that engine allows you to tow your heart’s content, up to 5,000 lbs.
Spacious For Driver and Passengers
Inside, room is impressive up front and good in back, where head room is great and leg room is sufficient for six-footers. Also, the rear cushion flips up for enhanced in-cab vertical cargo capability. Steering-wheel controls for the infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto talent, are clear and concise while providing a nice tactile experience — lucky thing, since there wasn’t a radio knob in sight.

A Smooth Ride

The driving experience is that of a big car. This unibody’s ride, on indy suspenders, is smooth, the cabin quiet and the handling that of a large sedan rather than a truck. On the all-wheel-drive it is an automatic transmission with terrain choices from Normal to Snow, Mud and Sand. Depending on the terrain choice selection you will feel a difference when driving the Ridgeline in regard to transmission shifting, control and stability and a power split using the front and rear.

Your Favorite New Truck

From taking the busy streets on a daily basis to highway driving or traversing in more of off road situations, the Ridgeline has got it covered comfortably with standouts in particular including the in-bed trunk and dual-action tailgate, both impressive on this 2017 midsize pickup. Honda hopes this new Ridgeline will fare better than the disappointing sales of its predecessor. With numerous rule-breaking pickup features — available front-wheel drive, fully independent suspension, unibody construction, available truck-bed-mounted power take-off for audio/video tailgating and more — that seems a reasonable expectation.
